Section One: Race as Biology How race is socially constructed through biological traits Race is a social categorization of individuals sharing biologically transmitted characteristics considered important. For instance, it is a common occurrence for people to classify others in different racial categories because of physical features such as facial features, hair texture, in addition to skin color. Arguably, race develops certain characteristics from biological along with environmental factors, which makes it more than a socially constructed peculiarity. Distinctions adapted from a racial perspective originate from the dissimilar geographical regions that people evolved. Features notable within the cellular flaws are imperative indicators for the biological uniqueness among persons from diverse racial backgrounds. Some races are found to contain variations of certain illnesses such as Tay Sachs, genetic mutation amongst people from the Jew race have unique mutations as compared to other strains. Census is an important example of evidence aligned with the indistinguishable debate about race being socially constructed depending on biological traits, yet it has minimal connections with biology. Matthew Snippa states, “Three illustrations should make this a compelling point. One is the evolution of legal definitions for African-Americans, American Indians, and Asians. The second is the evolution of racial categories in the United States census” (Markus and Paula 113). The statement indicates the social construction of race within the United States that altered over generations. The quote explains how the census is a reliable source of evidence that aligns race as a social construction of biological characteristics. In another statement Matthew Snipp claims, “Regardless of the legal contentions about who is or is not an African-American, American Indian, or Asian, the U.S. census has handled these issues in a manner that encompasses legal definitions, scientific judgments, and public opinion” (Markus and Paula 117). The main idea communicated through the statement is that the methods utilized by the United States when handling census might have had a slight connection with biology. Section Two: The Push Outs Unlike Dulce, William, and Rynisha, Dr. Rios is among the few young individuals who have had a chance to use personal choices relating to their attitude in solving life predicaments in addition to the way such outcomes contribute to detrimental consequences. The main target audiences for Dr. Rios comprise of young people living in poverty as well as depending on welfare. One recommendation made by Dr. Rios is that educators need to utilize shot chapters from his book to address issues faced by most of these young persons living in poverty. A program such as YO! Watts are important in correction of structural discrimination because it is designed to support both scholars and instructors in high schools. The program offers an appropriate guideline that teachers can follow to ensure that they offer the most appropriate solutions that relate to the issues that learners face in real life. Failure to implement programs that address the major problems scholars face is the main reason why they claim they got “pushed out”. The intersections between race, class, and gender are evident in the film when young people from less fortunate backgrounds endure different challenges to deal with real life problems through the programs initiated to support learners. The upward class mobility forces young people living in poverty to associate themselves with assigned texts that do not correspond with their life challenges. One notable similarity is the problem of being assigned texts that do not align with personal challenges. It is logical to suggest that different people may have unique difficulties in life, which require a different approach. Section Three: Race as Doing Issues such as assimilation models, in addition to pluralism, often affect the notion about race and ethnicity being about action and doing. Considering that race along with ethnicity represent products that result from human actions, society continues to witness models such as assimilation as well as pluralism. Assimilation models comprise of scenarios whereby people with similar characteristics linking them to specific immigrant member groups are considered for various reasons. The assimilation model has been a common factor that affects the processes integrated with various sectors across the United States. For instance, housing continues to experience several challenges as the sector is hindered by structural discrimination. Evidence of variations with sectors such as housing provides compelling confirmation that the contemporary society has not yet overcome racial discrimination. Structural discrimination also proves that race and ethnicity are among the leading factors that hinder modern society from reaching a post-race world. The most appropriate way to surmount challenges presented by race and ethnicity is through studying human genome, in addition to the laws of economics, which offers proper understanding about race and ethnicity as necessary segments for overcoming the structural discriminations problems in the current century. Through sharing personal experiences on the impact that race and ethnicity have towards the modern society, it is certain there is a connection that links human actions over the past years with the continued existence of race and ethnicity. People panic over differences that emerge due to race and ethnicity within the criminal justice system, the education sector, and the housing industry. Actions and doings contribute to the long term effects of institutionalized discrimination especially when they comprise unjust in addition to discriminatory mistreatment. The modern society needs to embrace a culture whereby actions and doings of people support the idea of people making conscious decisions in relation to discrimination. With more focus diverted towards everyday operations, it is easier to note that race and ethnicity represent an influential impact on the organization of society as they play important roles in facilitating violence across the globe. Categorization such as “foreign” and “other” are common actions in which the media has played a part in influencing categorization in the modern society. Abolishing such negative processes associated with “doing race” in different forms of media is an indication that this problem may persist for longer than it is anticipated. Use of various modes of categorization such as “foreign” represent philosophical ways that action and did play a part in the existence of individual discrimination. Learning institutions are among some of the leading sectors that incorporate modes of categorization that align with individual discrimination. “Doing race” is a negative process because it has an interruptive impact on the ability of people to implement systems that surpass any kinds of variations that emerge because of structural discrimination. Contemporary society has introduced interpretive frames that contribute to a celebration of certain ethnic groups over others because of the amounting privileges associated with certain races. Race builds up specific attributes from organic alongside ecological variables, which makes it in excess of a socially developed eccentricity. It is a typical event for individuals to group others in various racial classes because of physical highlights, for example, facial highlights, hair surface, notwithstanding skin shading. Individual discrimination is another imperative factor that emerged in the notion concerning race and ethnicity being about action and doing. News, as well as media, are the main causes of different variations witnessed in individual discriminations. Qualifications adjusted from a racial point of view begin from the divergent land areas that individuals developed. Instead, media platforms should be useful in making certain that various programs associated with race and ethnicity are supported to help diminish the challenges caused by this predicament. Statistics is a dependable wellspring of proof that adjusts race as a social development of organic attributes. Society keeps on seeing models, for example, digestion in addition to pluralism. Absorption models include situations whereby individuals with comparable attributes connecting them to particular settler part bunches are considered for different reasons. Confirmations of varieties with parts, for example, housing give convincing affirmation that the contemporary society has not yet conquered racial separation. The advanced society needs to grasp a culture whereby activities and doings of individuals bolster individuals settling on suitable choices in connection to separation. Present day society needs programs that offer a suitable rule for educators to pursue, guaranteeing that they offer the most fitting arrangements that identify with the issues that students look, in actuality. The current society has an obligation to support programs associated with actions and doings of people embrace the idea of people making conscious decisions in relation to discrimination.
