What makes some реорlе introverts and оthеrs ехtrоvеrts Name University Every member of a society in the modern world setting has personal traits that are admirable to other persons and which at the same time are regarded bas by other members of the same society. We can either be introverts or extroverts depending on our personal traits and the general personal behavior. Several human personality theories have been put forward to explain what is entailed by the introverts and the extroverts. The introversion and extroversion theory best explains who are the introverts and the extroverts and how they behave. A high caliber and notable researcher called Carl Jung is credited for popularizing these terms in his various research programs. Therefore our main issue of study is to actually understand what makes some persons introverts while others extroverts. We are also determined at establishing the characteristics of introversion and extroversion through the study of scholarly articles by Carl Jung. At the beginning of the 20th century, researchers the likes of Carl Jung explained that every human being belong somewhere in the spectrum of extroverts and introverts. He actually stated that extroverts are noisy persons and he devised the plans on how to care for introverts and nurture their special talents (Jung & Evans, 1980, p.167). By the mid 1960s, other researchers came up and psychologist such as Hans Eysenck made proposals that extroverts have chronically low levels of arousals in the psychological terms. He arguably stated that introverts are highly aroused by things many persons find unpleasant and would not make them happy. He finally stated that introverts seek conversations about serious topics unlike the extroverts who are about cracking jokes and who fit easily into any topic of discussion (Jung & Evans, 1980, p.234). In the modern setting where there are brain scans, we are now coming to answers about the several decades old questions pertaining to introversion and extroversion. Brain scans have been established to record activity of the brain and through the genetics knowledge; we actually get informed about the codes behind certain constraints of the chemical signaling that are used by our dear brains. It is very good to understand the characteristics of the introversion and extroversion. By doing do, every parent will be able to fully understand to which class does their dear children belong to and therefore adopt the right manner to bring them up rather than forcing their children to forcefully adopt to ways of life they dislike, some children are shy while others are very much outgoing and talkative. Also to note is that understanding of the theory of Carl Jung (Jung & Evans, 1980, p.243) is very important to tutors in the learning institutions and those specifically in the lower levels of learning. They know the various traits of the children under their command and hence they handle them according to their needs. There are children who are talkative, energetic and there is a class of children who are quiet and shy of many persons in public gatherings (Soleimani, 2013, p. 41-43). Therefore in this particular paper, we are trying to establish into details what kind of characteristics makes some person introverts while others extroverts and determine which class between the introverts and extroverts is better to be associated with. This paper will clearly focus on the factors or causes of introversion and extroversion and finally give recommendations regarding the main issue of discussion. Biological factors have been established to have an impact on the introversion and extroversion elements. When we actually talk of biological factors, we are simply talking about genetics of human beings. It is through genetics that some personal traits are passed on to the next generations in our life lines. Several research studies have been carried out on twin children and it was established that genetics accounted for 39 to 58 % on the characteristics of introversion and extroversion (Soleimani, 2013, p. 50-57). Eysenck through his theory proposed that extraversion is generally caused by variations in the cortical arousals. He stated that introverts are characterized by high levels of activity unlike the extraverts. This proves the fact that extraverts require an external stimulation. Eysenck gave an example that an introvert salivate more than an extravert in response to a glass of lemon juice. Extraversion has often been associated with high levels of sensitivity of the mesolimbic dopamine system to the rewarding stimuli. This is the reason behind the often found high levels of positive affects in extraverts. It is evident that genetics play a role extraversion and introversion. For example consider a case where a child is born in a family of extraverts. Both the mother and father are highly talkative, they like flashy lifestyles and essentially like socializing most of their times, definitely the child will inherit those characteristics of the two and probably would even be more extravert than they are at the moment. Politicians are the best extroverts. Same case applies for children born in families of introverts, introverts are people who are quiet, shy and avoid socializing in most of their lives. Such a child is likely to be an introvert, will talk less and avoid social gatherings (Jung & Evans, 1980, p.193). The second cause of introversion and extroversion is the nature of the environment. Environment is defined as the conditions of a place or simply what surrounds us as the human beings. This is great determining factor in regard to which class (introverts or extraverts) a person will be classified to fall under. Author Eysenck proposes that extraverts require an external simulation unlike the introverts. Therefore association with environment is all what builds up an extravert person in our society. A person associated with an environment of talkative people, outgoing and never shy at all persons has been established to emulate those characteristics and hence the person will be classified as an extravert. While a person who has essentially lived in a quiet environment, with fewer people to talk to and avoided social sites and gatherings such as church services, ball games at local venues will be classified as an introvert. An introvert person is a person with characteristics of talking less, avoiding socializing with many people, wears comfortable clothes rather than expensive and beautiful ones, does not decorate his or her work station and does not provide socializing environment either at home or work station (Soleimani, 2013, p.90-99). Introversion and extroversion have direct impacts in every person`s life. Proper understanding of the two elements enables each individual fit well into society without much accompanying social problems. An extrovert is defined as a person characterized by the concern of the physical and social environment whilst an introvert is generally a human being concerned much with the inner world of the mind. You can easily notice the vast differences between the persons of the two classes (Morris, 1979, p.543-9). Therefore by understanding that introversion and extroversion are normal variants of the human being behavior, then we can easily understand people and live with them without any problems and have self acceptance capabilities of high levels. Several researchers across the world have reported that extraverts have high levels of happiness which is a contributing factor towards their extreme social status. We are not simply stating that introverts are unhappy persons but we are establishing that introverts are people who experience less positive emotions Dr. David Meyers verified that happiness is just a matter of having traits which are extraversion, optimism and self-esteem. However extravert’s youths are likely to engage in behaviors that are delinquent unlike the introverts who are very intelligent and gifted persons in the society. Extrovert persons normally gravitate towards the natures of groups and constant actions and usually think out loud. Most of the times, they are energized and constantly recharged by the external stimuli such as the social gatherings where ideas are exchanged. They tend to be around with people. However the introverts are actually persons who dislike noise, big groups meetings and interruptions. They prefer being solititude and have time to think before actually delivering their wordily content to others. Introverts have been established to recharge with reflection and deep thinking strategies to research on their ideas and they usually focus deeply on their duties or work. Extroverts make the best team leaders since they bring vision to the organizations and assert high levels of energy and networks in their particular organizations they work in. introverts are the inventors of the visionary ideas and principles (Morris, 1979, p.541). An example is the Albert Einstein who in his childhood, he avoided other children at all means. It has come to our attention that every member of the society fits either into the introversion or extroversion group. We also noted that extroverts are outgoing and talkative persons and these traits were stimulated by the environment in which these persons were born and raised up. However introverts are persons who are shy and are always focused into their inner world of their minds and this is mainly brought about by biological factor of genetics though nature of the environment in which these persons exists also plays a little part. We confirmed that nature of the environment and biological factors are the key players in the characteristics of introverts and extroverts persons. We therefore consider it positive to educate the members of the society why they have certain traits and which of those traits are positive and negative. By doing so, the general members of the society will be able to accommodate each other without much adverse social problems. It will also be very important to educate school children why certain of their colleagues are talkative and outgoing while others are shy and less talkative. The limitation of the essay is that it did not take into account various cultures that exist across the world. Religion also plays a great part on the way we socialize; Islamic religion has been established to prevent much interaction between the opposite genders unlike the other religions. We therefore recommend that future research studies on the introversion and extraversion take into account these factors during the actual research; they conduct surveys across the world, different cultures, religions, genders and age groups.
