Circuit behavior analysis The voltage across the inductor 8.33H, VL=(L×VIN R+L) Where Vin =5volts R=100ohms L=8.33H, (5*8.33)/(100+8.33)= 0.3845voltsThe voltage across the resistor 100ohms, VR=(R×VIN)/(R+L) (100*5)/(100+8.33)= 4.6155 voltsThe current value recorded when the inductor is fully charged is given by I= = = 0.0197A (c). Time constant of the circuit was given by Re/Le where Re=(R1+R2)=(100+100)Ohms which gives 200Ohms1/Le=1/L1+ 1/L2 + 1/Ln =1/10 + 1/50. Thus Le= 8.33H t=8.33/200 =0.

0417secsFor the voltage response the curve is an exponential decay while for the current it’s an exponential growth with time.2. Total inductance LT. Calculate the first branch, let it be LA, (inductor L3 is in parallel with inductors L4 and L5). The equivalent circuit inductance LEQ , (inductor L1 is in parallel with L2 and LA)This is the inductor equivalent of the circuit.(b) Inserting the above equivalent circuit into block X. Voltage across the inductor Voltage across the resistor ii. Resultant phase angle of the circuit ˚Vector diagram of the circuit VL VG Ѳ VR Discussion on results and observationsCurrent flowing in both the resistor and the inductor are the same thus current is taken the reference in horizontal axis.

For the resistor both voltage and current are in same phase thus VR drawn on the same axis as current. In inductor voltage leads current by 90 degrees therefore VL drawn at right angle with current.Voltage decays exponentially as the current flowing through the circuit grows exponentially to its maximum value. For series of equal time periods the inductor is charged to its maximum value of which the current value will never reach the maximum since the extra charge at each time period shrinks.

This is explained by the fact that when the battery is connected and the switch is put on the inductor tends to resist the change in current and therefore the current builds up slowly where the building up rate is characterized by the time constant. The inductor coils forms a magnetic field in which energy is stored by establishing current in the inductor.ReferencesSuresh, Kumar K. S. Electric Circuits and Networks.
