The paper 'Operations Management - British Airways " is a great example of a management case study. In any business organisation, one of the main concerns is the provision of goods and services in the market according to customer demands. For the efficient provision and delivery of these goods and services, the must be efficient operations management in the organisation that is concerned with the designing and the management of these goods and services that move in and out of the organisation.

Operations management, therefore, is one of the most vital sectors in the business organisation and is mandated with the responsibility of ensuring that a firm or a business entity’s activities run smoothly aimed towards achieving the company’s goals and objectives of providing quality products to the markets that meet the customers’ demands and specifications. The department ensures efficiency in production in terms of resource usage in the production process and its effectiveness is measured by customer satisfaction (Plenert 2002, pg. 67). The operations management department is also concerned with the management of various processes in the industry which is concerned with the conversion of the inputs into the final outputs, that is to say, that the department is to ensure all the steps in the manufacturing processes of the firm from the initial stages to the final realization of the product into the market to the final consumer.

This, therefore, makes the department have modern technological tools of operations as one of the strategies of ensuring that quality and efficient products are realised into the market. The onset of the operations management can be traced back to the periods of the cultural transformations in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries during the period when the industrial revolution occurred, the period of Waltham – Lowell system and the period of the American manufacturing system (Frazier & Norman 2002, pg. 87).British Airways is a form of any other business in any organization that has operation functions that are concerned with service provision and the operations procedures and methodologies for the service provider to the customers.

It is therefore faced with challenges and economic problems like other business entities and in recent times, the company is facing some operation management problems in its operations and this has made the company undergo some strategic changes within its department.
