The paper "Honda Motor’s Strategic Approach" is a perfect example of a case study on business. Soichiro Honda established Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda or the Company) in 1946, where its first product was the A-type bicycle engine. The Company was incorporated in 1948, and, in the 1950s, became one of the primary motorcycle makers in the world. In 1959, Honda expanded in America and established its headquarters in Los Angeles. Since then, it has formed subsidiaries all over the world. In 2000, Honda made its first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle and formed an Indonesian subsidiary that produces power products. Subsequently, Honda manufactured the CR-V sport utility vehicle, Honda Civic, Fit Shuttle, Fit Shuttle Hybrid compact cars, Acura line of luxury cars, new motorcycle models (including the EV-neo electric scooter in 2010), Brio Amaze (an eco-car sedan), Odyssey and Odyssey Absolute premium minivans, Shuttle, and Jade, as well as a wide range of other vehicles (Reuters, 2016). Honda also has a broad product portfolio, including the world's first electric power steering (EPS) system for all-terrain vehicles (ATV), HondaJet, high-performance lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles, automobile driving simulators, BF115 (115PS) outboard engine, Honda Smart Ecological Paint (Honda S.E. Paint), fuel cell system and hydrogen storage technologies, and ASIMO (Honda’s humanoid robot), among others (MarketLine, 2016).

            Honda has also entered several partnerships to leverage diverse competencies and financial and intellectual resources (MarketLine, 2016). In 2004, it made a strategic alliance with General Electric to develop a new jet engine for light business jets. In February 2015, Honda collaborated with Toyota Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor to hasten the development of hydrogen station infrastructure for fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) (MarketLine, 2016).

            Presently, Honda has four business segments: motorcycle business, automobile business, financial services business, and power product and other businesses. It operates in Japan and other nations in North America, Europe, and Asia. Honda posted revenues of $118,424.5 million at end of its financial year, March 2014, which jumped by 19.9% from the previous year (MarketLine, 2016).
