Human resource managers are also responsible for the development an analysis of varied functions in helping to determine the type of appropriate Human resource information systems that are required for automation of operations hence forming a workable alliance and complete integration of the Human resource department of the restaurant (2011, 5). The main importance of determining a Human resource information system is that it helps determine a software application that is able to enhance the business activities and help run them more smoothly.

According to the understanding of a system, an integrated system is one which is used to collect, store, make changes, analyze, retrieve and help in the distribution of vital information hence saving valuable time and organizational resources. The acquiring and establishment of such systems will ensure that the Human Resource managers have access to a provision of adequate data on strategic levels of management that facilitates more efficient, effective and better information highly valued for decision making.

When decisions are made in an organization based on data the organization is likely to achieve its strategic goals without deviation (2011, 10). Fictitious Business Description Castle Family restaurant is a widely known restaurant in northern California which has a larger number of employees ranging from 300 to 340 people in all it eighth restaurants. The restaurant is run by around 30 members of the Castle family among whom we have 6 elder members. This is a state of the art modern restaurant specializing in a theme composed of steak and shrimp buffet.

A single individual called Jay Morgan performs the roles of operations manager and Human resource management. He therefore has to travel on a weekly basis to each of the eight branches to ensure smooth running in terms of production scheduling, recruiting and hiring while responding to the questions of all the employees in all the branches. The management of the employees is formalized in a manner that payroll is taken care of using excel spreadsheets with an integrated computer system to help in printing the payroll checks.

The travels by Mr. Morgan on a weekly basis may be quite expensive most so during this era that the gasoline cost has escalated hence the need to devise a technique applicable for conducting the HR activities at a single point (2011, 11). This prompts the need for the integrated Human resource information system. Castle Family Restaurants would benefit mostly from the benefits of a payroll Human Resource Information System i.e. Payroll HRIS. Given the nature of the HRIS software of simplicity, it is able to do some basic payroll processing that can be virtually embraced by everyone with ease (2011, 21).

The payroll system commences its tracking of events from the time spent in undertaking certain activities as reported by the employees himself or herself through some sort of software or web application. The only setback with regards to tracking of time spent doing a job is the hard fact that some employees still prefer using the manual hard copy way to record such information before they scan them and feed them into the computer system. The payroll system is advanced in such a way that it is able to perform the necessary accounting and provide the printouts of the paychecks.
